Board minutes

February 11, 2008

Members present: Jeannie Bellaire, Roberto Flores, Lynn Armstrong, Olga Hernandez, Bryan W. Gerard, Larry Stallings, Antonia Padilla, Pat McGuire.

Members Absent: Cris Ramirez, Chris Forbrich, Ruth Dalymple

Meeting was called to order at 7:05

Roberto congratulated the new board members. Olga moved to accept the January Board minutes. Jeannie seconded, motion passed.

Committee reports:

Endorsement – Get judge to look over judicial questionnaire.
Discussed how to get more members to attend endorsement meetings. It was suggested that the endorsement committee make phone calls to the membership. It was noted to remind members about the precinct conventions.

Membership – 2007 membership increased by 51 members.

Programs and events – Lynn confirmed that Phillip Barcena was the chairperson.

Communications: There was discussion about the directory. Bryan moved that the Directory not be published. Pat McGuire seconded. Motion passed.

The new committee assignments were: Pat McGuire – Endorsement Committee, Larry and Lynn – Political Relations Committee, Antonia – Voter Registration & Mobilization

Lynn received an email from Elena Guajardo suggesting Mathew Shepard’s mother as the speaker for this year’s Awards dinner. Lynn will follow on it.

Olga presented National Stonewall’s Grow to Win program. National wants us to apply for it. Olga moved that we apply for the grant and use it to help Joe Farias’ campaign. (Dan would fill out the application). Jeannie seconded it. The motion passed.

Jeannie mentioned that she has a copy of “For the Bible tells me so” and proposed that it be used as a fundraiser in May.
