SDSA Membership Meeting Minutes

January 22, 2007

The meeting was called to order by Co-chair Bryan Gerard.  The first order of business was to announce and welcome five new members to the organization, Robin Patterson, Bill Patterson, Sharon Nickles, Warren Kelly and Sandra Blake.

The next item on the agenda was the election of Board Members.  The candidates were introduced and each one addressed the membership.  Dr. J Lynne Armstrong and Roberto Flores were elected as new Co-Chairs of SDSA.  Five at large members were also elected to the Board: Jeanne Belaire, Bryan Gerard, Olga Hernandez, Joseph La Monica, and Travis Peterson.  Peg McPhail made a motion that the members endorse the appointment of the two-at-large members who were not elected to fill the vacancies left by Lynne and Roberto when they assume the duties of Co-Chairs.  The motion passed.

SDSA members thanked outgoing Co-Chairs Bryan Gerard and Susan McCabe for their leadership and service to the organization.

Lastly, Marilyn Graham made a motion to dissolve SDSA as a non-profit corporation and to convert the organization into a PAC.  The motion was seconded by Maggi Joseph and it passed, unanimously.  Attorney Murray Van Eman attended the meeting and answered questions regarding the motion to dissolve the corporation.

Bryan Gerard indicated that at the next membership meeting revised and/or amended by-laws would be presented for membership approval.

Olga Hernandez announced that she is a candidate for election to the Board of Directors of National Stonewall Democrats.

Lynne Armstrong announced that Mayor Phil Hardberger would be the guest speaker at the March membership meeting.
