The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM at Grady’s Restaurant by Co-chairs Roberto Flores and Lynne Armstrong.

A motion was made by Peg and seconded by Dan to accept the minutes as written.

Kelly Timmons, from the Membership Committee, reported that a meeting had been planned to discuss ideas for increasing membership.

Dan Graney, Endorsement Committee, announced that the committee would be meeting next week.

Travis Peterson, Peace Officers Liaison Committee, reported that because of health reasons he will no longer chair this committee.  He reported on upcoming Sensitivity Training Sessions.  Lynne Armstrong will be the liaison person between the police department and the LGBT community.  Her name will be listed on the web site.

The guest speaker was Zada True-Courage, who gave an overview of how to become a delegate to the national convention.  She emphasized these important dates:

March 4th Primary

March 29th Senatorial District Conventions

April 21 to May 21 Filing Statement of Candidacy

June 6 and 7 State Convention

August 25 to 28 National Convention in Denver

She reviewed the precinct convention process and reminded us that there would be one delegate elected to the senatorial convention for every 15 votes in the last gubernatorial election.  At the senatorial conventions one delegate to the state convention would be elected for every 180 votes in the last gubernatorial election.  She indicated that we might have a better chance to be elected to the national convention as an at-large delegate, because of the quotas established by the DNC.  She indicated that as soon as she updates the power point presentation she would make it available to SDSA.

Ruth Dalrymple, treasurer, reported that our current balance is $7195.62, after banquet expenses.

Lynne thanked the following people for their work on the banquet: Jamie Lewis, Phillip Barcena James Poindexter, Chris Forbrich, Charlie Gallimore, Sandy Blake, Michelle Myers, Dan Graney, Olga Hernandez, Mark Spencer, Jeanne Belaire, Madeline Dewar, Bonnie Dietering, Cris Ramirez, Roberto Flores, Joe LaMonica and Hiro,Valerie Grace, Antonia Padilla, Ruth Dalrymple and Lynne Armstrong.

Roberto reported that the TSDC and membership would be meeting on September 30 around noon, to discuss by-laws revisions, and the status of Shannon Bailey.  SDSA members are urged to attend.

Roberto and Dan will be hosting a fundraiser for Rick Noriega on Saturday, November 3 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at their home, an invitation will be e-mailed.

Zada announced that October 2 is the deadline to file for the position of precinct chair.

Texans for Peace will hold a vigil to end the war on September 25 at 5:30 PM in and around San Pedro Park.  They will also have their annual teaching conference next month.
