SDSA Membership Minutes
January 21, 2008
SDSA Co-chairs Roberto Flores
and Lynne Armstrong called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM at Grady’s
Restaurant.
Ruth Dalrymple, treasurer,
reported a current balance of $7,444.31.
She explained and presented copies of the proposed SDSA 2008
budget. Diane Stallings made a motion to
adopt the budget; Marilyn Graham seconded and the motion carried.
Travis Peterson, Police
Sensitivity Training Committee, reported on the ongoing Police Sensitivity
Training. Thus far the committee has
conducted two training sessions, one with seasoned officers and one with the
cadets. A training session has been
scheduled for March.
Dan Graney, Endorsement
Committee, announced the Candidate Forum on January 27 at 1:00 PM at Kenwood
Community Center. He also reminded
everyone that the Primary is Tuesday, March 4th.
Olga Hernandez, Membership and
Communications Committees, announced that SDSA currently has 181 members. She also discussed the new list serve SDSA is
using.
The election of new SDSA Board
members was the main item on the agenda.
Ruth Dalrymple, treasurer, was elected for another two year term by
acclamation. The motion was made by
Charlie Gallimore and seconded by Ellen Stephens. Cris Ramirez, secretary, was elected for
another two year term by acclamation.
The motion was made by Dan Graney and seconded by Sandi Kramer.
The candidates running for two
year at-large positions, Chris Forbrich, Michelle Myers,Pat McGuire, Antonia Padilla
and Larry Stallings, spoke to the membership about their experience and goals
for the organization. At-large board
members elected were Chris Forbrich, PatMcGuire, Antonia Padilla and Larry
Stallings.
Lynne announced that she,
Roberto, and George Page, HRC Governor, met with City Manager Cheryl Scully to
discuss the city’s anti-discrimination policies. She indicated that the meeting
was positive and that Ms. Scully was in agreement with SDSA on this issue.
Roberto announced a Valentine
Dance on February 9 at the Radisson Market Hotel. More details on this would appear in an
e-mail to members.
